Great description of a fast method for landscape! I wish I had taken that path on my N-scale railroad. I had a 5x9 foot rectangular layout with a yard off to the side ... operated it for almost 5 years ... had several finished areas but always had plywood and particle board showing somewhere. If I had painted and textured all of the exposed wood as you recommend, my whole layout would have looked much better ... and almost instantly! Now I am involved in a backyard railway, G-scale ... just an out and back with a loop at each end: The Paris-To-Peking Railway in Ventura, CA ... "The Poolside Route" ... "From P to Shining P", as we joke about it. Now I use real wood, real plants, and real mud to complete the scenes ... but the kids and the darned dog keep digging things up and causing "natural disasters" ... It's a challenge! My brother, John, posts our progress on his site, almost daily. Thank you for the awesome advice! -- Eric Reinhart
